Why 91?
A weighted aggregate of four category scores. Reasoning is editorial — physics-grounded engine in development.
CXA81 Mk II's 80W into 8Ω handles the KEF Q7 Meta's 4Ω nominal dip with documented headroom. The amp's stable 4Ω rating at 120W means transient peaks pull from the same supply rail as the steady output.
Cambridge Audio MXN10 outputs digital via coax/Toslink to the CXA81's onboard DAC, plus DLNA / Tidal Connect / Roon support. Up to 24/768 sample rate ceiling exceeds any practical streaming source. Outboard streamer keeps RFI from the network section away from the amp's analog stages.
5.2 × 3.6 m is appropriate for the Q7 Meta's measured 36 Hz bass extension. The REL T/5x adds substance below 35 Hz and helps with the room's longest mode. KEF's tweeter dispersion handles the 2.6 m listening distance well.
Q7 Meta tuning is documented neutral with KEF's metamaterial absorber dropping cabinet resonances. CXA81 measured flat. MXN10 DAC adds no colour. Sub crossover sits below the speaker's stated –6 dB point so no overlap region.
